Inu for amending Digital Security Act, if necessary

DHAKA: Mentioning that discussion on the Digital Security Act will continue, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said amendment will be brought to the law through discussion if needed.

Minister Inu made the remarks at a press briefing in secretariat on Sunday noon (October 14).

He said, “We have sat with leaders of Editors’ Council, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) and Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU). We listened to their concerns but did not discuss the questions they raised then. This discussion will continue.”

“The parliament passed the law and the president signed it as a routine work. However, amendments can be brought to any law,” he said.

Mentioning that path of discussion between government and journalists should remain open, Inu also said if the law needed amendment, it can be done. Just don’t put a deadline in the process.
