DHAKA: Nine technology companies have signed a deal with the government to invest USD 140 million in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-tech Park project.
The investing companies plan to manufacture mobile phone, laptop, communication device, data center and thousands of IT products there. It will also create employment opportunities for around 25,000 people.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-tech Park managing director Hosne Ara Begum signed separate agreements with representatives of the companies at Bangabandhu International Conference center (BICC) on Tuesday evening (Sep 25).
The companies are- Robi Axiata, Xenex BD, BJIT Software, Fair Electronic, KDS Group, InterCloud BD, Business Automation Ltd, Nasdaq Technology and JR Enterprise.
A total of 20.50 acres of plots were allocated in the park for the companies previously. They will be able to invest there for the next 40 years. The plots were handed over to them today where they can start activities with full force.
Post, Telecommunication and ICT minister Mustafa Jabbar, ICT state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak and senior officials of the companies were present at the event.
