DHAKA:  Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged international community to invest in education to secure peace for future generation.

Sheikh Hasina made the call at a high-level meeting on International funding for education at the UN Headquarters in New York on Monday (September 24, local time).

Gordon Brow, the UN special envoy for global education presided over the high-level event entitled: “Making impossible possible: Unlocking human potential through the international finance facility for education.”

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “Education is the most powerful weapon to ensure permanent peace. Let us invest in education to help secure future peace for our future generation.”

Sheikh Hasina, “If education is distributed well, all menaces will be driven out of the society. Education creates employment, income source and alleviates poverty. Education brings about economic growth, innovation, social development and strengthens welfare-oriented institutions.”

Referring to Sustainable Development Goals-2030 to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all, she said, “Regrettably, about 263 million children are out of school in the world, while 800 million children are predicted to lack basic skills globally by 2030.”
