‘Drug addict’ hacked to death by ‘dealers’ in Mirpur

DHAKA: A suspected drug addict was reportedly hacked to death by drug dealers at a shanty in Rainkhola area of the capital’s Mirpur-2, following a dispute over the price of items.

The deceased, Jakir Hossain, 35, worked as a transport worker, hailed from Mollapara area of Jessore and a resident of Chalantika area in Mirpur. 

The deceased’s cousin Pintu told Banglanews that Jakir was stabbed by the drug dealers at a shanty nearby Mirpur Commerce College, as he engaged in an altercation over the price, around 8pm.

He was taken to a local hospital with injuries and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the physicians pronounced him dead, added Pintu.   

Details regarding the incident will be revealed through investigation, Shah Ali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Salauddin Mia told Banglanews.
