15 trawlers capsize in Bay of Bengal with 250 fishermen

BARGUNA: A total of 15 trawlers reportedly capsized in the Bay of Bengal near Pathargata upazila due to strong currents.

At least 250 fishermen on board are feared missing.  Among them, 10 fishermen of a trawler were rescued, but 4 of them with the trawler are still missing.

The accidents reportedly happened in Fairway Boya, Narikelbaria, Dubla, and other places of deep sea from Thursday (September 20) evening to Friday (September 21) morning.

Golam Mostafa Chowdhury, president of Barguna Fishing Trawler Owner’s Association, confirmed the matter to Banglanews on Friday afternoon (September 21).
