DHAKA: Members of Shia community brought out a ‘Tajia’ procession from Hosni Dalan in the old part of the Dhaka city to mark the holy Ashura on Friday (Sept 21) amid tight security measures taken by the law enforcement agencies.

Strict security measures were taken around Imambara Hoseni Dalan to ensure smooth observance of Ashura.

Imambara Hoseni Dalan management committee has coordinated the observance program.

Besides, security layers also have been be implemented in separate places of the capital city Bibika Rowza of Farashganj, Purana Paltan, Moghbazar, Mohammadpur Geneva Camp and Mirpur-11 Bihari Campwhere the Shia community will gather to observe the day.

Police banned carrying of lethal weapons like knife, sword and other sharp weapons during Tajia procession. Fireworks also have been prohibited.
