2 killed by rivals in Rangamati

RANGAMATI: Rivals killed two persons in a clash erupted in a hilly area of Naniarchar upazila of Rangamati early Friday (Sept 21).

The deceased were identified as Akarshan Chakma and Sumonto Chakma.

Locals said the deceased were members of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF).

Police and local sources said a pro-Janasanghati-JSS (MN Larma) group of young men carried out an attack at the residence of the deceased, at early hours of Friday morning. 

At one stage, Akarshan Chakma and Sumonto Chakma were shot to death as a gunfight erupted. 

Naniarchar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Latif acknowledged the incident to Banglanews.

Details will be informed later, after visiting the spot, he added.
