Govt for making remittance inflow free: Muhith

DHAKA: Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said the government is considering a proposal so that expatriate workers will not have to pay any fee while sending remittance in country.

A special scheme is being planned to bear the cost of remittance transfer, the minister added.
The veteran politician made the remarks while addressing as chief guest at Bank Remittance Award-2017 give away ceremony in Bangladesh Bank Training Academy in city’s Mirpur area on Thursday evening (Sep 20).

Urging Bangladeshi migrant workers to invest in country, Muhith said expatriates have increased country's wealth by sending remittance. Their contribution and patriotism must be recognized.

While speaking as special guest, Bangladesh Bank governor Fazle Kabir also praised expatriate workers for their financial contribution in our economy and emphasized the importance of agent banking/ mobile banking in the overall banking sector.
