DHAKA: Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) president Siddiqur Rahman said all of garment factories have paid salaries and bonuses to their respective workers ahead of Eid Ul-Fitr.

He made the remarks at a press conference in BGMEA building in city’s Kawran Bazar on Thursday afternoon (June 14).

BGMEA president said apart from salaries and bonuses, all workers were given holidays. We wish them well and hope they will enjoy a nice Eid vacation before joining work in Dhaka. 

“Based on intelligence reports, we had identified 34 factories that might have had problem over workers’ payment. A month ago, we have formed local committees dividing 15 zones with the help of government to solve the problem in due time. So, all workers have been paid their salaries and bonuses. Moreover, Eid holidays were announced in all factories from Wednesday (June 13),” he said.

He also thanked Bangladesh Bank for cooperating in the payment process despite liquidity crisis.
