Khaleda to wait as appeal hearing against bail May 8 BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia imprisoned in this old central jail

DHAKA: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Monday has allowed the government and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to open appeals challenging the bail the High Court granted to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The top court also fixed May 8 for hearing on the appeals that means the bail will remain suspended till then.

Khaleda Zia has been serving the jail term after she was sentenced to five years in prison in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case by a special trial court on February 8.

Later on March 12, the High Court granted a four-month interim bail to Khaleda in response to appeals filed by her lawyers.
