SHARIATPUR: Three policemen were suspended for carrying hilsas during spawning season as government imposed a 22-day-long ban starting from Oct 9.

District police chief Abdul Momen executed the punitive action against ATSI  Mintu Mia of Motor Vehicle Department of Shariatpur Police Lines, and two constables Hridoy Hossen and Sanjit Somaddar around 12 am on Thursday (October 17).

Police said these three cops were carrying hilsa fishes along Police Lines area after 11 pm on Wednesday (October 16). Seeing this, locals caught them. High officials of district administration and police administration rushed to the spot after being informed of the incident. SP Abdul Momen suspended them, because evidence was found.
