Fahad murder: Writ filed for Tk 10cr compensation

DHAKA: A writ was filed with the High Court seeking its directive to provide Tk 10 crore as compensation to the family members of BUET student Abrar Fahad.

Advocate Shaheen Babu on Sunday (Oct 13) submitted the petition also requesting the HC to order the government to give Tk 10 crore to the victim’s family.

Senior advocate AKM Foyez of the Supreme Court will move for the petition.

In the petition, the lawyer also appealed to the HC to form Judicial Committee for enquiry of the murder incident and issued directives to the authorities concerned of the government to ensure security of the Fahad family.

The HC is yet to fix any date for holding hearing on the writ petition.

Abrar Fahad, a second year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of BUET was allegedly beaten to death at his dorm Sher-e-Bangla Hall early Monday (Oct 7).

The body of Fahad was found lying between the first and second floors of Sher Bangla Hall.

Later on that day, police arrested 10 BCL leaders of its Buet unit over the alleged involvement in the killing of fellow student Abrar Fahad. 

On Oct 8, a Dhaka court placed ten leaders of BCL on a five-day remand and fixed November 13 for submission of probe report of the case filed over the murder of Abrar Fahad.
