3 get life in C'Nawabganj arms case Two lifers

CHAPAI NAWABGANJ: Three persons were sentenced to life in prison by a Chapai Nawabganj court in an arms case.

Judge Md. Shawkot Ali of the Special Tribunal-2 of Chapainawabganj and additional district and sessions judge court of Chapai Nawabganj delivered the verdict on Tuesday (August 6).

The lifers were--Shah Alam alias Alam of Shyampur Gopalnagar village under Shibganj upazila, Md. Abul Kalam of the same upazila and Mohammad Osman Ali of Ahalla Sadhpara village under Boalkhali upazila of Chattogram.

Among them, Osman Ali is absconding. The accused--Saiful Islam—was acquitted because the allegations were not proved.

According to court sources, police seized 22 foreign pistols, 136 rounds of bullets and 45 megazines in a drive conducted at Shankarbati house of Chapai Nawabganj district town on 24 October of 2016.

Abdul Karim Badi, the then sub inspector of Chapai Nawabganj detective police filed a case under arms act with Chapai Nawabganj Sadar Model Police station.
