3 get life in Brahmanbaria murder

BRAHMANBARIA: Three persons were sentenced to life in prison by a district court for burying a man after killing him in Bancharampur upazila of the district in 2016.

Judge Mohammad Shafiul Azam of district and session’s judge’s court of Brahmanbaria delivered the verdict on Wednesday (July 10).

The convicts--Shipon Mia, 45, son of Siddique Miah of Bhelnagar village of Bancharampur upazila, Md. Kabir, 34,  son of Baten Mia and Habib, 23, son of Qazi Mostafa.

Wife of the victim-- Ripon Mia--Amena Begum, 35, was acquitted.

According to court sources, Amena Begum had conflict with Shipon Mia over drug. Besides, they had extra-marital affairs. With that dispute in mind, convicts killed Ripon between 2 and 10 January of 2016, and then buried him under a land at Bhelanagar.

On January 10, Ripon’s body was unearthed. On that day, Ripon’s brother filed a case with Bancharampur police station.
