DHAKA: Appellate Division of the Supreme Court cancelled the High Court bail given to Hallmark Group Chairman Jasmine Islam and ordered her to surrender within next four weeks, in a case over embezzling Janata Bank money.

The Appellate bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain issued the order Sunday (June 16).

Lawyers Mansurul Haque Chowdhury and Abdul Matin Khasru moved for Jasmine while lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan moved for Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), at the courtroom.

Khurshid Alam Khan told reporters that Jasmine was granted bail by the High Court on March 10 this year, in a case filed over embezzling Tk 85,87,33,000 from Janata Bank by issuing fake L/C (letter of credit). Afterwards, ACC challenged the order at the Appellate Division.
