Imam, wife, mother remanded over lawyer murder Imam Tanvir Ahmed is in police custody

MOULVIBAZAR: A court here on Tuesday (May 28) remanded a local mosque imam and his wife and mother for eight days each in lawyer Abida Sultana murder case.

Barlekha Senior Judge Haridas issued the order after the hearing on a remand plea filed by investigation officer of the case Police Inspector (Investigation) Jasim Uddin.  

Moulvibazar District Bar Association member Abida Sultana is believed to be killed Sunday (May 26). Police recovered the body at early hours of Monday (May 27).

The deceased's husband Shariful Islam, as a plaintiff, filed the case at the night.

Tenants of Abida's ancestral home-- Madhabgul mosque imam Tanvir Ahmed, his wife Halima, mother Nehar and brother Afsar Alam were accused in the case.

Afsar has been absconding while the three others were detained.
