DHAKA: The Supreme Court authorities issued a new notice to clarify its earlier notification restricting journalists to make news on the sub-judice cases.

"The Supreme Court always believes in freedom of press. Circulating or publishing such news items that hurt image and honor of the court and affect the judicial process is not expected," said the latest notice signed by SC Registrar General Tuesday (May 21). 

In the notice issued on May 16, the SC administration asked all to abstain from running news on the matters which are under trial.

Various media platforms started urging the authorities to withdraw the notice soon after its issuance.

However, Law Minister Anisul Huq told reporters on Monday (May 20) that they will get clarification about the SC order soon.
