SC Bar polls: 2,970 votes cast on first day

DHAKA: 2,970 votes were cast on the first day of two-day voting to Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) elections of 2019-20 session. 

The voting started at Shaheed Shafiur Rahman Auditorium of SCBA after 10am and continued till 5pm Wednesday (Mar 13).

SCBA election is being hold under supervision of a sub committee for election, headed by AY Moshiuzzaman.

The key contest will be held between candidates from the ruling Awami League-backed white panel and the BNP-backed blue panel.

Advocate AM Aminuddin, a former secretary of SCBA, and Advocate Md Abdun Nur Dulal from Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad (White Panel) are vying in the posts of president and secretary respectively.

Advocate AJ Mohammad Ali, a former SCBA president, and its incumbent secretary Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon from Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya (Blue Panel) are contesting in the posts of president and secretary.
