A magnitude 8 earthquake has struck Northern Peru.
It was felt at a depth of 109.9km, about 80km southeast of Lagunas, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quake was felt around 7.41pm on Sunday night (NZ time).
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said there was no tsunami threat from the quake.
On Twitter, locals shared their experience of the significant quake.
Some reported feeling shaking for as long as two or more minutes.
People in Colombia and Ecuador reported feeling the quake as well.
