DHAKA: Private television channels will sign deal with Bangabandhu satellite authority in the next two to three months to receive its broadcast services, Association of Television Channel Owners (ATCO) said.

The information came after the meeting of ATCO with Information Minister Hasan Mahmud at the Secretariat on Tuesday (August 6).

Mozammel Haque, Senior Vice President of ATCO and Managing Director of Ekushey TV said, "All channels are in test transmission under Bangabandhu satellite.

During the transmission of the test, some cases of fiber cutting have occurred in the fiber connectivity stretching from Dhaka to Gazipur for development activities and occasional incidents.

ATCO senior vice president and Ekattor TV managing director Mozammel Haque said the satellite authorities have agreed to extend the alternative connectivity system, adding that in the case an accidental cut if there are two or three alternative lines, then there is no problem.

He said the Bangabandhu satellite is a satellite with the state-a-art technology. Bangabandhu Satellite is getting better picture and broadcast quality than the satellite we are now using. Only when the communication fiber connectivity problem is resolved will we completely disconnect our current satellite.

DBC News chairman Iqbal Sobhan Cadbury said our technical representatives will sit with the Bangabandhu Satellite Authority and take effectible steps to alleviate the technical problems. Within two to three months, all TV channels of Bangladesh will be able to broadcast through Bangabandhu Satellite.

Information minister said Bangabandhu Satellite is a satellite of our pride, now BTV only broadcast through this satellite. In the meantime, six television channels have signed agreement with the Bangabandhu satellite to get service.  We discussed in detail with the rest of the television channels to sign the deal.
