Australia set Pakistan 308-run target

DHAKA: Australia set a promising 308-run target for Pakistan in the 17th match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 against Australia at the Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton on Wednesday (June 12).

Opener David Warner collected 107 runs off 111 balls with 11 boundaries and one over boundary.

Besides, Captain Aaron Finch helped 82 off 84 balls with six boundaries and four over boundaries.

The kangaroos have been bundled out to collect 307 runs at the end 49th over.

For Pakistan, Mohammad Amir hauled 5 wickets while Shaheen Shah Afridi bagged two wickets.

Besides, Hasan Ali, Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Hafeez picked up one wicket apiece.

After a 36-run defeat to India, defending champions Australia are facing an unpredictable Pakistan.

Earlier, Australia kick-started their campaign with a clinical seven-wicket win over Afghanistan and a 15-run drubbing against West Indies.

But the defending champion’s winning momentum was halted against a strong India.

Pakistan were humbled against West Indies by seven wickets but bounced back against hosts England, winning that match by 14 runs.

Their next match against Sri Lanka at Bristol was abandoned without a ball bowled.
