DHAKA: Awami League and BNP leaders and activists locked into a clash at Gopibagh area in the capital on Sunday during campaign of BNP nominated mayoral candidate Ishraque Hossain.

Ishraque and his supporters were attacked in front of Central Women’s College around 1pm on Sunday, Khurshid Alam, press secretary of Ishraque Hossain alleged.

On the way to Gopibag after holding a peaceful campaign rally in Motijheel, some miscreants began throwing brickbat from an under construction building in the area, he said.

Wari Police Station OC Mostafizur Rahman said, “A chase and counter-chase took place between AL and BNP supporters. But now the situation is under control.”
