DHAKA: Awami League (AL) finally nominated incumbent mayor Atiqul Islam as mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) elections. 

AL general secretary Obaidul Quader formally announced the names of mayoral candidates around 11:00am on Sunday (Dec 29) at Awami League president’s political office.

The decision was taken during a meeting of Awami League’s local government nomination board with the party’s president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair earlier on Saturday night.
