Fakhrul and others get anticipatory bail BNP leaders

DHAKA: The High Court on Sunday (December 15) granted eight weeks of anticipatory bail to BNP’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and a few others in a case filed for arson attack on three motorcycles in Supreme Court area in the capital.

The HC bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain and Justice Md Riaz Uddin Khan came up with the orders as BNP leaders appeared before the bench seeking bail in the case.

The arson attack incident happened at around 4:30 pm on December 11.

Two cases were filed against 135 people including BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir with Shahbagh Police Station.

Sajjadur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Ramna Division Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed the cases on December 12.

He said a group of miscreants set three bikes on fire in front of the Supreme Court on Wednesday. The cases have been filed in this connection, he added.
