DHAKA: Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad’s body is being taken to Rangpur on Tuesday (July 16) morning.

A helicopter carrying his body departed from Tejgaon Airport for Rangpur, his electoral area around 10:30am. 

Later, his fourth namaj-e-janaja will be held at Rangpur Eidgah. 

After janaja, his body will be brought back to bury at Combined Military Graveyard in Dhaka. 

Younger brother of Ershad and Jatiya Party acting chairman GM Quader, party’s secretary general Moshiur Rahman Ranga, Ershad’s son Rahgir Al Mahi Saad and other senior leaders of the party also accompanied the coffin.

90-year-old former military ruler HM Ershad died at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) here on Sunday (July 14) morning.

He breathed his last at 7:45am.

He was suffering from various old age complications including low hemoglobin count, liver complications, and lung and kidney infections.
