ICT finalises probe report against 11 Sumanganj razakars

DHAKA: The investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has finalised its report on probe into the alleged crimes against humanity committed by 11 Sunamganj war crimes accused.

Investigation agency chief coordinator Muhammad Abdul Hannan Khan revealed the summery of the probe report at a press conference at its Dhanmondi office on Monday (June 17)

Of them, six accused were arrested but five are absconding, he added.

The six arrestees include Md Jubayer Monir, 62, Md Jakir Hossain, 62, and Md Siddikur Rahman, 61, Md Tota Miah Tailor, 81, Md Abdul Jalil, and Md Abdur Rashid. 

The investigation agency refrained from revealing the identities of the remaining five as they are yet to be arrested.

“The eleven were directly involved with crimes against humanity including abduction, torture, rape, murder and arson attacks on houses in Sunamganj in 1971,” said investigation agency chief coordinator Muhammad Abdul Hannan Khan.

“The investigation against 11 accused has been launched March 12, 2016, and concluded on March 7, 2019. in the probe report, four charge have been brought against the accused on allegation of  killing 34 people, raping five women, torching 30 houses, abducting 31 people and torturing 14 people,” Khan added.
