DHAKA: BNP Secretary for International Affairs Barrister Rumeen Farhana's nomination paper was marked valid by the Election Commission (EC) to vie for the reserved seat of woman at the 11th national parliament. 

On Tuesday (May 21), EC Joint Secretary also Returning Officer (RO) Md Abul Kashem declared Rumeen's submission valid.

As per the election schedule, May 28 is the last date of withdrawing candidacy and June 16 is the date of voting.

No voting will be held as BNP hasn't nominated any other candidate for the same constituency.

Rumeen is expected to be declared elected uncontested by the Returning Officer (RO) on May 28 if she doesn't withdraw candidacy.

However, seven BNP candidates were elected in the 11th national polls. Of them, six took oath as MPs. As per the Election Act, the party was allocated one of the women's reserved seats.
