CHUADANGA: Police detained 48 female members of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami while holding a secret meeting in Alamdanga upazila of the district.

The detention was made from Hatboalia village of the upazila on Tuesday (May 14).

Among the detainees, there are a couple of current and former sura members including a local Union Parishad member.

Asaduzzaman Munshi, officer-in-charge of Alamdanga police station, confirmed the detention of 48 Jamat women to Banglanews.

“Jamaat women were hatching a plan to carry out a large-scale act of sabotage before Eid in Chuadanga. Upon primary investigation, many of them confessed to their plan of sabotage activity,” Mahbubur Rahman, Superintend of Police (SP), told Banglanews

“Jihadi boks and receipts of extortion were seized from them during the drive. Detainees will be transferred to the court after further inquiry at the police station,” SP added.
