3 killed in Sirajganj road accident

SIRAJGANJ: Three people, including two oil traders, have been killed in a road accident in Sirajganj.

The incident occurred on Hatikumrul-Banpara highway in Tarash upazila on Thursday night (July 2).

The deceased were identified as businessmen Monirul Islam Shah, 36, son of Yusuf Ali Shah, Shakil Mia, 20, son of Musa Shah, and Ashraful Islam, 30, son of Ayez Uddin.

Hatikumrul highway police station sub-inspector (SI) Abdullahel Baki confirmed the matter to Banglanews. 

He said that the two businessmen were traveling from Hatikumrul to Gurdaspur with 11 barrels of soybean oil on an auto-rickshaw driven by Ashraful Islam.

“At one point, the auto-rickshaw broke down after crossing Hamkuriya-Mannan Nagar Bazar. A speedy bus knocked them over, killing the three on the spot,” he added.

On information, police recovered the bodies. However, the bus driver and his assistant managed to flee the scene.
