Shanto-Marium Foundation chairman dies from coronavirus

DHAKA: Founder Chairman of Shanto-Marium Foundation and Sundarban Courier Service Md Imamul Kabir Shanto has died from coronavirus (Covid-19) infection on Saturday morning. 

He was 66.

Shanto, a freedom fighter, breathed his last while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka at 7am.

Lily Islam of Director of Public Relations in Shanto-Mariam Foundation confirmed the news.

Imamul Kabir Shanto was admitted to Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital in Dhaka on May 21 after he had tested positive for coronavirus, she said.

Later Shanto was shifted to CMH on May 27 for better treatment, she added.
