Bashundhara Group provides food items to newspaper hawkers

DHAKA: Country’s largest business conglomerate Bashundhara Group has provided 2,000 hawkers and distributors with food items on Wednesday (April 8).

Bangladesh Pratidin editor Naeem Nizam and Kalerkantho acting editor Mostofa Kamal handed the food items to hawkers and distributors from Gulnaksha hall of International Convention City Bashundhara in the capital around 12 noon.

The food items include rice, lentil, wheat and oil.

Dhaka Newspaper Hawkers’ Multipurpose Cooperative Associations Limited’s president Md Mostafa Kamal, secretary Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Newspaper Transport Owner Society’s organising secretary Shiekh Muktar Hossain and Newspaper Distribution Labour-Employee Union’s chief adviser Riaz Ahmmed Mamun, among others, were present during the occasion.

Earlier, on Tuesday, Bashundhara Group provided 50,000 face masks for Dhaka Metropolitan Police to tackle the coronavirus situation.

On Monday, the Group handed over 50,000 masks and 1,400 packets of food items to RAB Director General Benazir Ahmed at RAB headquarters in the capital.

The company also handed over 50,000 face masks, 500 PPE and 700 packets of food items to Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Aurangzeb Chowdhury at the Navy headquarters in the capital on Sunday.

On Saturday, Bashundhara Group provided 25,000 face masks for DMP Traffic Division (North) to help protect its members from the deadly coronavirus.

Last week, Bashundhara Group handed over 1,000 PPE and 50,000 face masks to the Directorate General of Medical Service (DGMS).
The physicians, nurses and other employees of the DGMS needed the PPE for discharging professional duties.

As part of the corporate social responsibility, Bashundhara Group is going to set up the country’s largest 5,000-bed hospital for corona patients. Necessary work to set up the hospital is underway.

Bashundhara Group has also donated Tk 100 million to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.

Bashundhara Group is also continuing distribution of relief items among the distressed people across the country.
