DHAKA: Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla will arrive in Dhaka ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Bangladesh.

The foreign secretary will arrive in Dhaka on a two-day visit on March 1 to finalise the schedule for the Indian premier’s visit to Bangladesh, foreign ministry sources said.

Narendra Modi is expected to visit Dhaka on March 17 to attend Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary celebration, sources added.

The Indian Foreign secretary will call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on March 2.

Harsh Vardhan Shringla, who earlier served as the Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka, will also meet Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen on the same day.

It will be Shringla’s first visit to Bangladesh after he assumed the office of Indian Foreign Secretary.
