DHAKA: Bangladesh has to spend 8-13 trillion dollars per year to attain Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)-2030, said Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen.
For this, private sector could come forward alongside the government. Besides, five ‘P’s are needed-- People, Plan, Perception, Peace and Partnership-- to achieve SDG, said Momen.
Green Delta Insurance Company Ltd, in partnership with the CSR Centre and CRAB Ltd. (Credit Rating Agency of Bangladesh), has published the country’s first Sustainability Report (SDG Report) in the private sector to implement the SDGs in Bangladesh, based on UNGC Principles, GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) standards and OECD Guidelines.
SDGs, also known as Sustainable Development Goals, were adopted by all United Nations member states in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect planet and ensure peace and prosperity by 2030.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen was the chief guest at the SDG Report launching ceremony at a city hotel with GDIC Managing Director Farzanah Chowdhury in the chair on Thursday (February 20).
Financial Institution Division Senior Secretary Ashadul Islam, Insurance Development Regulatory Authority’s Member Dr M Mosharraf Hossain, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatternton-Dickson and UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh Mia Seppo, among others, were present on the occasion.
