South Korea to give Bangladesh scanners to detect any virus

DHAKA: South Korea will provide Bangladesh virus scanners at free of costs for installing those in all airports to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

Cabinet secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam revealed this information after a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in the city on Monday (Feb 17).

They (South Korea) will provide scanning machines to Bangladesh on test basis, he said, adding that those machines will be used in identifying all viruses.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the coronavirus outbreak in mainland China reached 1,770 as of the end of Sunday (Feb 16).

Across the country, there were 2,048 new confirmed infections, about 1,933 from Hubei alone, pushing the new total to 70,548.
