CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Two Bangladeshi nationals were shot dead and three others injured in Shibganj frontier of Chapainawabganj early on Thursday (January 9).
The incident happened at Johorpur area of Shibganj upazila. Locals held India’s Border Security Force (BSF) responsible for this incident.
The deceased were identified as Selim, 30, son of late Tobjul Haque, hailing from Shyampur Charpaka village under Paka union of the upazila and Sumon, 23, son of Sadikul Islam, of 10 Rashia Porapara village of the same upazila.
Lt. Col. Mahbubur Rahman, commander of BGB-53 in Chapainawabganj Battalion, said he had heard of a similar incident. Details will be given after gathering information about it.
Durul Huda, a ward member of the 7th ward under Paka union told Banglanews: “I heard that two persons were killed by BSF, but there is a strong warning from Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) not trespass into Indian side, that is why dead bodies and the injured were kept hiding.”
