DHAKA: Majnu, who raped a Dhaka University (DU) student in Kurmitola area of the capital on Sunday night, is a serial rapist, said Sarwar Bin Kashem, director of Law and Media Branch of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

RAB official briefed media at Kawran Bazar in the capital on Wednesday (January 8).

Sarwar Bin Kashem said: “Majnu is a serial rapist. After coming to Dhaka, he used to live at railway stations and nearby areas. He’s a drug addict. He lost contact with his family after death of his wife. During interrogation, he revealed that he used to rape disabled and female beggars in Dhaka.”

Sarwar Bin Kashem said: “He fell off a train and broke two of his teeth 12 years ago. He is from Hatiya upazila in Noakhali. His father's name is late Mahfuzur Rahman. Majnu was arrested on the statement given by the victim and our investigation. He was arrested on Tuesday night. "
