NARSINGDI:  Jute mill workers of Narsingdi returned to their workplace on Saturday (December 14) after five days of continuous unto-death hunger strike.

They joined work after government assurance of fulfilling their demands. However, they declared to go on strike again if demands are not realized by December 15

Shafiqul Islam, president of UMC Jute Mill CBA, said, "We have joined work since morning because of the assurance of the state minister for Labor and Employment. However, if the demands are not implemented by December 15, then we will go back to the movement on December 17.”

Jute mill workers began strike with 11-point demand since November 23, but unto-death hunger strike began from 12 pm on December 10. As a result, 13 workers became sick while 7 were hospitalized.
