DHAKA: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that concerts or music and dance event will not be allowed in open places to celebrate the 31st night. 

He said the government has taken special security measures for the Christmas Day and the 31st night. Law and order will be ensured in almost 3,500 churches across the country in coordination with law enforcement agencies and their own volunteers.

The minister made these remarks to reporters after holding a meeting with a committee formed over law and order situation at the secretariat on Thursday (December 12).

The minister said Christmas Day of December 25 and the 31st night are very close. The reason behind today’s meeting is to ensure security on the eve of Christmas Day and no disorder the 31st night.  

He also said music and dance will not be allowed on streets or flyovers on that day, especially after 6pm in open places. All types of preparation have been taken to keep situations normal on the 31st night. Bars are declared closed all over the country starting from 6 pm of December 31 to 6pm of January 1. At that time, raids will be conducted against drug.

Moreover, fireworks, crackers, balloons are also not allowed on Christmas Day and the 31st night, the minister added.
