DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called upon countrymen to make strides in building up a developed and prosperous Bangladesh imbued with patriotism.
The premier was addressing a reception at Senakunja of Dhaka Cantonment marking the Bangladesh Armed Forces Day on Thursday (November 21).
Sheikh Hasina said: “Our economy is strong enough. So, we want to build our country by ourselves and I want all to work from their respective positions with sincerity to build the country.”
The premier said she wants to move the country forward without begging anything from anyone and bowing down to anybody, rather going ahead with the head keeping high.
Our aim is to go ahead with a spirit of the victorious nation of the Liberation War, she also said.
As regards economic development, Bangladesh is one of the world’s fifth countries and is currently implementing 90 percent of the development works with own finance, she further said.
The prime minister said there will be economic development in the country provided that peace and security is maintained.
