Suspected drug peddler killed in city ‘gunfight’

DHAKA: A suspected drug trader was killed in an alleged gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in city’s Hazaribagh area early Wednesday (Nov 20).

The deceased was identified as Nadim bahadur, 38, an accused in nine cases.

On information, a team of RAB conducted a drive in the area to recover drugs around 4am, said Senior ASP Mizanur Rahman, assistant director (media and legal wing) of RAB.

As soon as the elite force reached the area, criminals opened fire, triggering a gunfight. Nadim was caught in the line of fire and suffered gunshot wounds, he added.

RAB recovered a foreign pistol, ammunitions and a huge amount of drugs from the spot.

Nadim was a top drug dealer in the wanted list of the home ministry, Mizanur Rahman added.
