DHAKA: State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam said it is possible to ensure the repatriation of Rohingyas, but the task cannot be done overnight.

He said, “Rohingya issue is a much-discussed one all over the world now.   We tried to discuss the issue, and we have been successful. Of course there will be a solution, but that is not possible overnight.”

He was speaking at a round table titled ‘Necessity of Rohingya repatriation considering regional and global perspective’ at National Press Club in the capital on Monday (November 18).

Md Shahriar Alam said: “The Rohingyas have been living in our country for 20- 25 years. The number has stood at 11 lakhs with the addition of new Rohingyas coming from Myanmar. This number is constantly increasing.”
