SIRAJGANJ: Two probe bodies formed following Rangpur Express derailment in Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj on November 14 inspected the accident site.

A 5-member committee, led by additional deputy commissioner (overall) Feroz Mahmood, inspected the site on Monday morning (November 18).

Feroz Mahmood said: “We have begun an investigation. After thoroughly conducting the investigation, the report will be submitted by Thursday (November 21).”

The other members of the committee were--Ullapara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Arifuzzaman, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Ullapara Circle) Golam Rahman, Sirajganj GRP Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Akter Hossain and Assistant Engineer of Pakshi Railway Shipan Ali.

A 4-member committee, led by chief operating superintendent of the Western Railway, Shahidul Islam visited the site.

The other members were--Mrinal Kanti Bonik, Chief Mechanical Engineer of Rajshahi (Western Railway), Chief Engineer Al Fatta Masudur Rahman and Chief Signal and Telecommunication Engineer Sushil Kumar Haldar.

Both of the committee members examined railway tracks, bogies and engines. They took testimonies from station officials and eyewitnesses.

Eight bogies of the Rangpur Express veered off the tracks at noon, causing fire three bogies. Five persons were injured in the fire.
