DHAKA: The four members of banned militant group 'Ansar Al Islam,' detained from Gabtoli and Amin Bazar of Savar in the capital had a plan of ‘Target Killing,’ RAB said.
RAB briefed media at its media center in the capital on Monday (October 21).
“The four militants, though now are working for Ansar Al Islam, were involved in Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami. They joined Ansar Al Islam after break-up of Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami. Their motive was to establish Islamic Caliphate, those who would oppose it, would be victims of Target Killing. Therefore, they would always keep machetes on them,” said Mozammel Haque, Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police (CO) of RAB-4.
Rapid Action Battalion detained Mufti Saiful Islam, 34, Md. Salim Mia, 30, Junaid, 37 and Ahmed Sohail, 21 on Sunday (October 20).
Several digital devices, including laptops, android phones were seized from them. There were clips of militant training, which motivated them and gathered new members.
