Wild elephants kill youth in Rangamati Dead body

RANGAMATI: Wild elephants killed a youth at Navy camp area in Kaptai upazila of the district on Friday (October 18).

The victim was-- identified as Shipon Miah, 22, son of Ali Ajgar—a resident of Dhakaiya Colony of the upazila.

Victim’s family said he was a mentally-imbalanced person.

According to local sources, Shipon went out from his home in the morning. Later, locals spotted his body far away from his home and informed police. Police came to the spot and sent the body to Rangamati Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem. Prima facie, he died from an attack by a flock of wild elephants.

Kaptai police outpost in-charge Atiur Rahman said what is inferred from injury of the body, death is caused by wild elephant attack.

An Unnatural Death (UD) case will also be filed, Atiur Rahman also said.
