UK to give extra £87m for Rohingya crisis Two officials speaking at press conference

DHAKA: The United Kingdom has declared to give an additional 87 million pounds to combat Rohingya crisis.

With this contribution, the total UK aid now stands at 226 million pounds since 2017.

The announcement came from a press conference held at UK High Commission in Dhaka on Sunday (September 22).

British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dickson and UK Aid chief Judith Herbertson spoke at the conference.

Robert Chatterton Dickson said a strong sustainable partnership between the UK and Bangladesh exits. Besides, Bangladesh has shown extraordinary generosity and humanity through giving refuge to Rohingyas. We appreciate this initiative. The UK is committed to improving the environment so that the Rohingyas can safely return to their homeland.

Judith Herbertson said this additional 87 million pounds will help maintain stability and safety among local people who are affected by Rohingyas and Rohingya crisis in Cox’s Bazar.
