JAMALPUR: Two minor cousins drowned in a water body at Purbo Kanderchar village in Islampur upazila of Jamalpur on Sunday (September 22) morning.

The deceased are Suraiya, 5, daughter of Saydur Rahman of Purbo Kanderchar village of the upazila and her cousin Akhi Akter, 8, daughter of Al Amin of Paglapara village in Bakshiganj upazila.

Locals said Akhi came to her maternal grandfather’s home two days ago. The two sisters slipped into the water body adjacent to their houses while playing in the morning. 

Later, locals noticed their floating bodies in the water body and recovered them. 

Md Delwar Hossain, in charge of Degreer Char investigation centre, told Banglanews that on information, police force rushed to the spot.
