GOPALGANJ: At least four people were killed and 11 others injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Khulna highway at Shonashur in Sadar upazila early on Saturday (September 21). 

The deceased were identified as Bijon Hawlader, 24, son of Narayan Hawlader, Russel, 24, son of Nur Islam, Kamal Mondol, 25, son of Jashirath Mandol and Abdur Rashid, Sub Inspector of Gopalganj police lines.

Md Jane Alam, deputy assistant director of Gopalganj fire service, told Banglanews that a Pirojpur-bound bus from Dhaka hit a stationed goods-laden truck at Shonashur around 3am, leaving its three passengers dead on the spot and injured others.

On information, fire service officials and police rushed to the spot and sent the injured to Gopalganj 250-bed General Hospital. 

Later, critically injured SI Abdur Rashid was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
