DHAKA: Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Wednesday (September 18) said a trilateral meeting on the Rohingya issue will be held in New York among Bangladesh, Myanmar and China.
Dr Momen said this at a press conference at the Foreign Ministry on the occasion of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's participation in the upcoming UN General Assembly session
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam and Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque were also present.
The foreign minister said the Prime Minister will reach New York on September 22 to attend the UN session. There will be a tripartite meeting among Bangladesh, Myanmar and China in New York on the Rohingya issue. The meeting will be arranged with China's mediation.
Dr. Momen said the Prime Minister will address the UN session on September 27. At this time, she will address the Rohingya crisis.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will also meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sideline of the UN session.
PM Hasina is likely to leave Dhaka for New York on Friday (September 20) for an eight-day official visit to the USA to attend the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
