Rifat murder: Charge-sheet accepted, 9 warranted

BARGUNA: A Barguna court on Wednesday accepted the charge-sheet in Rifat Sharif murder case and issued arrest warrant against nine accused.

The court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Sirajul Islam Gazi passed the order after hearing on the charge-sheet. 

The court also set October 3 for indictment hearing of the murder case and asked police to produce all the accused before it during the charge hearing.  

Advocate M. Advocate Md. Mozibul Haque Kislu told Banglanews that before the hearing of the case, accused Sagar, Al Qayyum alias Rabbi Akan, Mohaminul Islam Sifat, Rezwan Ali Khan alias Tiktok Hird, Hasan, Rafiul Islam Rabbi filed bail petition. Later, after hearing, the court sent them to jail rejecting the bail pleas.

Ayesha Siddiqa Minni, wife of slain youth Rifat Sharif, appeared before the court today, he added.

Earlier on September 1, Charge sheet was submitted against 24 persons, including no-7 accused Ayesha Siddika Minni in the sensational murder case of Barguna youth Rifat Sharif. 

After the investigation, the charge sheet was submitted to the court accusing 20 persons. Besides, a plea was made to free the main accused of the case, Nayan Bond, who was killed in a gunfight.

Ayesha Siddiqa Minni, wife of slain youth Rifat Sharif, was arrested for her alleged involvement in the murder as well for the sake of proper investigation of the case.

Later on September 3, Minni, no-7 accused in the sensational murder case of Barguna youth Rifat Sharif, has been released from Barguna prison after High Court bail order copy reached Barguna court. 

22-year-old Rifat Sharif, from Barguna sadar upazila, was hacked to death indiscriminately by Minni's alleged former husband Nayan Bond and his aides in broad daylight in front of Barguna Government College on June 26.

A shocking video of the brutal attack went viral on the social media, sparking widespread outrage and demand for justice from the countrymen.
