Child dies of dengue in Dhaka

DHAKA: A nine-year-old child has died of dengue fever, a mosquito-borne tropical viral disease, at a hospital to Dhaka Shishu (Children's) Hospital.

Earlier, Sonia was admitted with dengue fever from Mohammdpur area in the capital city, said Abdul Hakim, public relations officer of the hospital, on Tuesday (September 17).

According to Directorate General of Health Services data, this year, a total of 203 persons died on suspicion of dengue fever at hospitals and of those 68 persons died of dengue fever across the country.

Of 60 persons declared dead because of dengue at hospitals, two died in April, six in June, 32 in July and 28 in August.

Experts at the IEDCR confirmed the data of 68 confirmed dead in Dengue, saying that 47 in 68 people had Dengue Shock Syndrome and eight had hemorrhagic fever.
